US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales needs to resign

Democratic presidential front runner Hillary Rodham Clinton has joined her fellow New York senator Chuck Schumer in asking that Alberto Gonzales resign from his post as US Attorney General.

Gonzales is accused of firing many US Attorneys with politically motivated intentions including one in Arkansas who was replaced with Karl Rowe's follower.

This is what happens when politics and law collide.  Gonzales doesn't seem to understand that he is not George W. Bush's personal attorney anymore.  He is representing all Americans.  Meanwhile, Gonzales says his fate is up to the president.  I guess that means if Bush asks him to resign then he will.

While I have to agree that Gonzales should step down after this fiasco, I believe he was simply doing someone else's dirty work.  Political watch dogs also need to call on President Bush and other members of Congress to take credit in their involvment as well.

Gonzales' chief of staff has already quit over this controversy, and its time for some of his superiors to follow.
