This Week on American Idol: Ryan's not coming out, Brandon's going home!
On American Idol this week, we got to see the top 12 contestants perform for the first time together featuring the songs of Diana Ross.
After forgetting the words to his song on Tuesday's Idol, Brandon Rogers can forget about taking the lead. The 28-year-old back-up singer had hoped that this competition would be his chance to shine, but after he flubbed up his song, "You Can't Hurry Love," he got some harsh criticsm from the judges that ultimately led to him hitting the road.
"It was kind of boring, uninteresting, you forgot the words," judge Randy Jackson said. "It's got to be a lot better than that for me, man."
Randy's comments were echoed by his counter-part Simon Cowell saying it "sounded like "a background singer for a background singer."
"No star quality in that performance, no originality," Cowell added. "Absolutely not good enough. Sorry."
Brandon wasn't the only one getting a little embarassed by Cowell on this week's show. Ryan Seacrest seemed a bit pissed off when Cowell asked him when he was going to come out of the closet.
Ryan Seacrest: "We have a question from Georgia. What do you consider the hardest part of this contest?"
Melinda Doolittle: "Wow. I would have to say the high heels and these dresses. I like my tennis shoes and my sweat pants. I'm sorry."
Seacrest: "Simon, any advice on the high heels?"
Cowell: "You should know, Ryan."
Seacrest: "Stay out of my closet, Simon."
Cowell: "Well, come out."
Seacrest: "This is about the top twelve. Okay? Not your wishes...We're friends."
Seacrest has been poked and prodded about his sexuality, but the man who screams "Seacrest Out" as his catch phrase isn't ready to come out -- if he even really swings that way.
Next week, the contestants tackle the music of the "British Invasion," with '60s singers Lulu and Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits sitting in as the celebrity coaches.

Seacrest and Cowell have anti-gay banter EVERY WEEK on "American Idol." I'm planning to go stand outside their theatre with protest signs soon. I've had it with their anti-gay comments.
