You know I will give him the credit for smiling when he knows that he is winning because some people think it is funny to vote him a winner. How must his family feel when they can planely see and hear he can't sing. They should feel sorry for him and try and get him to drop out before it really becomes a larger laughing matter. He is just causing someone with a lot better voice to lose a chance to make something of themselves.

It is a matter of how well you do in the last performance, and Chris Sligh did not do that well, whereas this Sanjaya dude, was able to leave a lasting impression.
Also Fox Channel is very smart, they know that people either hate him or love him, that is good for their ratings....

I think I will have to boycot Ameican Idol if Sanjaya wins. Too many people with real talent keep getting voted off. They are the ones who deserve to be there. It is a shame that we have to keep seeing him week after week. I really can't stand to see him sing any longer. I don't care if his last two performances are memorable. They are only memorable because he either jumped around on stage or put his hair in a mohawk. Doing theose things didn't make his vocals any better. If this were a true singing contest I would agree. But it isn't it is a popularity contest just like a highschool student body president election. I was very upset with Chris Sligh going because he was one of the guys I was cheering on. I was so mad that Jaya was not in the bottom. I used to be a fan of him, but enough is enough vote him off the show. I feel so bad for Chris Sligh because he is way better then Jaya.

here in spain we have as yet to see this week´s show but i cheat each week and check on the internet....it really is quite painful to listen to sanjaya but remember who chose him in the first place!!!! i missed his audition so cannot comment on how good or bad it was......i think last week´s show has been the best so far...the english week (i am english so slightly prejudice)....i do feel that these guest coaches should just hang up their hats, stop trying to be young again...some of their renditions i have fast forwarded because they are so abysmal....i think simon is right on the button with his comments....can someone please tell me who dresses paula¿?¿?¿? who provides her jewellery¿?¿?¿?¿? no comment........i think that the viewing figures are still high because, as someone stated last week, each week ones favourite becomes more important and all the contestants have christian names which become so easy to remember, etc.

Please, what is it going to take to get rid of "miny michael" Malakar? Even Michael J. is quivering in his boots, to hear that voice again. Ok, so American Idol might be a bit big for it's britches, but creating a voting scandal only perpetuates a better rating for the network, and gives a mediocre singer at best, money in his pocket that should be allocated to another worthy contestant. Just to make this clear, it HAS NOTHING To do with Race. I'm Indian but I'm not ignorant enough to say this is racism. The guy PLAIN SUCKS compared to the rest. He should've stuck to Indian Classical music where he has the natural talent. This is like hearing white people trying to sing indian classical songs; they suck at it.

But he's not in the same league as the other American Idol contestants. Chris Sligh was better, Brandon was better, heck, Nick Pedro was better. Sanjaya's good, but he's not GREAT.
And the American Idol is supposed to be great.
So, let's go technical.
Sajaya's diction isn't fabulous; if I didn't know the songs, I wouldn't have any idea of what he was saying. His sings from his throat (contrary to what many people think, you should sign from your diaphragm for a better tone) so he's actually hurting his voice. He doesn't take deep enough breaths to support his voice over long phrases, leading him to take breaths in the middle of sentences and sometimes even words.
He's having fun and he's cute but if you want me to support him, send him to "America's Next Top Model".

I think the problem is with the people voting multiple times. They need to find a way where only 1 vote per phone number counts.

Sanjaya is aweful...but you have to give him credit for getting out there and taking chances. Should he have been gone long ago based on JUST singing? Absolutely. But it is about more than just singing and people like him. I feel sorry for him because it seems as though he is not in on the joke. He is only around because people think he is horrible....and that is why they are keeping him.
