Sanjaya Malakar, ruining American Idol
Every season it seems that there are one or two people who squeeze by the judges to make the top 12 on American Idol. Occassionally, these dud singers get a bit of fan support to stick around much longer than they should. However, none of these tone deaf Idol wannabes have gained momentum like this year's non-singer Sanjaya Malakar.
I have discussed and presented many possibilities as to why Sanjaya is running so strong in this year's Idol competition. Maybe we can thank the website, www.votefortheworst.com. Maybe we can blame Howard Stern for getting his fans to support Sanjaya as a joke. Maybe Sanjaya actually has fans!
This weekend, I was introduced to a group called the "FANjaya's." The Fanjaya's are evidently a group of individuals who actually want Sanjaya Malakar to be the next American Idol even though he can't sing at all.
Comparing themselves to Clay Aiken fans, the Claymaniacs, or whatever they prefer to be called; Fanjayas are flooding the phone to vote for Sanjaya each week.
I wonder what these Fanjayas are thinking as they camp out on the phones battling for time against everyone else who is voting for Sanjaya as a joke. Maybe they are thinking he is sweet, maybe they are thinking he has great teeth, or maybe they admire his every changing hair. You know they aren't voting for Sanjaya, because they think he is a good singer... because we all know the poor kid can't sing.
If Sanjaya is going to remain in this competition week after week, then I need to see more out of him. There isn't any chance that he is going to instantly become a talented singer, so I am hoping for something more exciting.
Maybe he could call in Tyra Banks' hair and make-up artist so he can perform in drag. They could tease out his hair and add some fake eye lashes to go along with those bushy brows. Or maybe he could wear a single white glove and perform only Michael Jackson songs from here on out!
This week the Idols will be joined by Gwen Stefani as their mentor. The Top 10 contestants will be performing the pop song of their choice.

At least Clay Aiken has talent. Not only is he charismatic he has a beautiful voice, perfect pitch and also has a good personality. He is naturally funny. He is terrific in concert. I don't think you can compare the Fanjayas to the Claymates and the Claynation. It's a force to be reckoned with.
Sanjaya is young, he has time to grow with his singing. He is cute,nice hair, has a good sounding voice, and seems to appeal to the very young. I also think he is a hit with the gay community. I don't think it is as much the Fanjayas, as it is the vote for the worst web-site and Howard Stern. Stern is the one with the big following. I have never cared for his type of entertainment. What he is doing to encourage this vote is despicable. I feel for Sanjaya as he is constantly ridiculed on all the talk shows. This can't be good for his self-esteem. Howard Stern is promoting this.
He is father, I don't understand why he can't see the harm he is doing. Also, it seems like he is trying to bring down the show because it is so popular. Everyone that knows Howard say he is a nice guy. I only see him as a big jerk!
Sanjaya is an angel.
Sanjaya Malakar, if he has some decency, should quit the show. He knows and his supporters know that he is there because some groups are voting for the worst singer. And please, don't even compare him to the poorest singers in previous American Idol seasons. Those contestents really deserve to be in the top 12. Sanjaya was voted from the top 24 into the Top 12 not because he was better than than any of those who were eliminated - but because his fanatical fans voted for the worst. What's funny and strange -- Sanjaya I think is starting to believe otherwise.
Give a kid a break...who says Sanjaya can't sing ? The kid has a good voice...like Peter Noone said, he just too young and doesn't have any experience how to sell himself...but he gives this seasons' American Idol, a different color. He has all the right to compete with other contestants...so leave him be !

Sanjaya- GOT TO GO. He is horrible. He shouldn't be there. The people who vote for him must be deaf or something.If he wins i will never watch Americam Idol again. I cant figure out why the judges put him through to begin with.

If the judges aren't happy with him, they should blame themselves. The picked him to be among the group going to Hollywood and then in the groups that would continue to go on to the semi-finals. If viewers are not happy with him, they should blame the judges who gave him this chance. If there are viewers who like him, hey, that's their business. Their motives are also their business. If you like someone else, vote for them. Spend all night. Get others to vote for others in the finals. Everyone can be a part of this. Or not. If you don't like the show, watch something else. :) Later!
No comparison between Clay fans and Sanjaya fans. Clay fans are of mixed ages, from young kids and teens, to 30-somethings, their moms, grandmoms, and yes, there are men out there who appreciate him too. There's a fan community of male fans of Clay so you can get your numbers from that site. Sanjaya's fans SEEM to be much younger, like little Ashley. As for the singers themselves, no comparison as well. Clay's a pro now. He's multiplatinum and been on, what, six or seven tours by now and just starting his next one. The Claymates alone can't sustain his career like that. He has way more fans than those who call themselves Claymates (who are predominantly his online fanbase). He's also a UNICEF ambassador and also has founded his own organization for people with diabilities. Did I mention -- that Man can SING.

I like Sanjaya. He seems like a nice guy. I'm not voting for him but he seems like a nice guy. He wasn't the worst last week. So, he should not have gone home. I read, a lady is on a hunger strike until Sanjaya is voted off. I kind of get a kick how people think American Idol is life and death. It's a TV Show. It's a TV show that manipulates it's viewers.
I've never seen such love and devotion for people. The amazing passion fans show to the American Idol stars. I think it's wonderful. But on the other hand, I've never seen such hate either. I went over to a Kelly Clarkson board last year and got slammed because I said I wish she would sing like she sang on Idol. I just liked her voice on American Idol better than I like her now. They all said I was a Clay fan, which I like him but I'm not a Clay mate or anything like that. I was a Kim Locke fan during season 2. They attacked me like I was ribs on a BBQ. Just vicious! They didn't listen to all the good things I had said about Kelly. They just attacked on that I loved her singing on American Idol better than now. It's not that I don't think Kelly is a good singer, I do.
I don't think Sanjaya will win. I don't even think Sanjaya will make it to the top 5. But maybe he will get better and earn your respect. You shouldn't blame Sanjaya for getting to Hollywood. You should blame the judges and producers.

As we know, it's an American Idol manipulation. I also read the they were comparing Jordin's fans to the Clay mates. Jordin's fans are called the Spark Plugs, which I think is really cute.
Really it doesn't matter who wins or loses, even Elliot got a cd deal last year.
Look how many people get record deals and get set for life. RelaX people. People need not to compare any idols. They are all very good. Carrie is great. Chris is great. Kelly is great. Clay is great etc. They are all different but they are all great.

After reading this article about Sanjaya, one of the main things that stuck out in my mind was "he may be getting votes as a joke". The operative word being "joke". This seems a little harsh as well as unfair to Sanjaya. Just a little food for thought, my mom would say this when I was growing up, if you play with fire you'll get burned and ultimately probably will not even get the outcome desired. All joking aside, do you think we should give more emphasis on the one that we feel should win? Someone's livelihood is at stake. I doubt very seriously any of the idol contestants would consider a potential career, "a joke". I realize there are people that don't take idol seriously, rather just a game show with America's participation, but is it? Their destiny is in our hands.

Sanjaya is AWESOME!!! No, he's nto the best singer and I don't think he'll win but he's totally cute and sweet and I like him WAAAAY better than most of those other duds. At least he's going out there and taking crazy risks rather than just being totally boring.
