Regis Philbin, the 75-year-old co-host of "Live with Regis and Kelly" announced on Monday morning's show that he will taking some time off to undergo a triple bypass surgery later this week.

"Well, listen, I gotta tell you something," Philbin told the audience.  "I had been feeling chest pains, you know, and, uh, shortness of breath and all those little symptoms that you hear about," Philbin explained.

Philbin underwent angioplasty in the early 90's and said he was going to have it done again because "you know, you get in, bang, bang, bang, they blow it open and you leave the next day," but "there's some plaque in some arteries and I've got to get it cleaned out," he added.

Regis has lined up a star-studded cast of guest hosts, including CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Howie Mandel, Neal Patrick Harris, Pat Sajak, Jeff ProbstMartin Short and Donald Trump.

Regis:

Long been a fan of yours. A few years back, at age 48, I have triple bypass surgery. Regis, I was totally amazed at how quick I was up and around. The only thing I can tell someone that is fixing to have this surgery is: YOU WONT BREAK! I was afraid to move in fear that I would injur myself. I can tell you, move around and get to rehab as soon as they will allow it. I could not wait to start rehab and I looked forward to it everyday.

I will tell you that my emotions were all over the place. For some reason, I would just start crying at the smallest little things. I am still a bit more emotional than before the surgery.

Regis I wish you all the best with your surgery and you will be in my families prayers.

I would very much appreciate your letting me know how it goes for you if you get the time.

Good luck Pal,

I have had the pleasure of knowing and working alongside
Regis(Superman)Xavier Philbin for a number years.
I have total faith that he will recover quickly from this life enhancing procedure. I have watched Regis work out in the gym doing regiments that men (including me) in their 30's & 40's could never complete. He never ceases to amaze me. He's not average - that's for sure. Regis is in excellent physical condition. He regularly stretches out and I actually copy his regiment all the time. I wish my friend a very speedy recovery. God does NOT want Regis yet... You can count on that. The king will be back sooner than you think.
Just watch! Regis we all love you eventhough many people ask me what it is you actually do for a living - I tell them, "it doesn't matter because you coud read the phone book and entertain people" SPeeeedy Recovery pal. Visit ClassShows.com and see a great shot of the king of ABC on this site. A True Class human being, never deneying a fan an autograph.
