Carol Burnett suing Family Guy cartoon
Last seaon the Family Guy made us all laugh when they spoofed Carol Burnett during the episode titled "Peterotica."
In that episode, the dead-beat dad Peter visits an adult video store with his buddy Quagmire, who remarks that the store is so clean because "Carol Burnett works part-time as a janitor."
The background music in the porn shop was a cheap knock-off of the Carol Burnett Show theme. Another character also made fun of her signature ear tug saying, "You know when she tugged her ear at the end of that show, she was really saying goodnight to her mom," to which Quagmire replies, "I wonder what she tugged to say goodnight to her dad."
Burnett didn't find the episode so funny, though.
Evidently the creators of the Family Guy asked to use the show's theme song. When Carol Burnett said no, she says the show was written to make fun of her.
She's suing for copyright infringement.
Fox released this statement: "'Family Guy,' like the 'Carol Burnett Show,' is famous for its pop culture parodies and satirical jabs at celebrities. We are surprised that Ms. Burnett, who has made a career of spoofing others on television, would go so far as to sue 'Family Guy' for a simple bit of comedy."

I have never agreed or liked Fox since they cancelled Arrested Development (and they've lost a lot of DVD sales through that as well), but for the first time in a few years they've got a point.
