Oakland gays retiring in style

Thursday morning gays in Oakland, CA will get the chance to make history by signing up to live in the first ever LGBT retirement community.

I picture a community speaker system that constantly plays show tunes and a lot of small dogs running around everywhere!

Barbary Lane Senior Communities, named for Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City novels, is made up of 46 independent living apartments in the former Lake Merritt Hotel.

The staff there also says the retirement community will also serve as a social gathering for people of all ages and sexual orientations, hosting public events, and more.  Again, I'm hearing lots of show tunes.

Evidently the concept has been popular so far.  At what age does a gay man retire again?  40?
