Ellen Degeneres is the Oscar buzz

I have mentioned over and over that 2007 is the year of the gay!  This Sunday one of our own, Ellen Degeneres, will host the Oscars.  It looks like this year's Oscar buzz is the host!

What to expect:  We all know Ellen as the rising star of daytime TV with her zany little remarks and geeky dancing style, so we can't expect anything serious.  Critics expect that Ellen will bring a much needed soft side to the prestigious awards show.

"It's the same thing I do when I do my show," DeGeneres, told TV Guide magazine. "It's really just setting that tone, and for me, being funny without being condescending or mean-spirited."

Unlike her predecessors, John Stewart and Chris Rock, Ellen isn't expected to crack on the guests, presenters and nominees much. 

She is also known for her one liners that make no sense and will likely keep the show flowing.

Ellen DeGeneres, who made broadcast history 10 years ago as the first openly gay lead character on U.S. prime-time television, is only the second woman to be solo host of the Academy Awards following Whoopie Goldberg's lead.
