Dr. Death speaks out about killing Anna Nicole Smith

The good folks at TMZ.com are reporting that the doctor responsible for prescribing methadone to Anna Nicole Smith while she was pregnant with Danielynn. 

Being tagged Dr. Death, Sandeep Kapoor (that's him in this photo ironically wearing a shirt that says "Trust me I'm a doctor"), released a statement saying his choice to give a pregnant drug addict methadone was "medically sound and appropriate."  TMZ also reports:

According to the US Department of Health and Human Services, methadone treatment for pregnant women can "save [a] baby's life" and can "allow [one] to regain...quality of life." The government also says that using methadone while pregnant "will not cause birth defects for [a] baby."

What's his excuse for giving Anna Nicole Smith more than enough methadone to kill herself and most likely her 20-year old son?  The jury is still out on that one.  Daniel Wayne Smith died a few months ago in the Bahamas resulting from a lethal mix of methadone and anti-depressants.
