Civil Unions start Monday in New Jersey

Starting Monday morning, New Jersey adds its name to the 'separate, but equal' list as queers and lesbians will be able to get unioned.  (Sidebar:  I totally think we should adopt that word.) While most members of the gay community aren't down with it, I think civil unions are a step in the right direction!  Sure we would love be equal without the whole separate thing, but at least you guys can get legally recognized as a couple.  We, New Yorkers, are still out in the dark.

At midnight, anyone has been married or granted a civil union in another state will become officially recognized by New Jersey at 12:01am.  For those who want to get a civil union, there is a 72-hour waiting period (as with marriages), so weddings may begin on Wednesday.

I'm an ordained minister, so shoot me an email if you want to be married by the World's First Gay Socialite.

I don't think gay marriage should be legal at all. Let the straight people have it if they want it.
