The Gossip Party: Rollercoaster ride of 2006

This has been an exciting year for GaySocialites.com and The Gossip Party.  The Gossip Party took a stab at running its own site only to realize that most people can pick up the Gossip Party in a local newspaper, at GenerationQ.net or at GaySocialites.com; so at the end of the year we find ourselves back together.  Is there any better place to be?

Now we take a look back at 2006.  It seems like this was the year when the pop culture balloon popped bursting mishaps all over the place.  Here are some highlights that were the ups and downs of 2006!

Up:

Britney Spears leaves Kevin Federline!  We all knew it was coming, and we all sang her praises the day it happened.  It seemed as though Britney Spears had finally come to her senses and was ready for a comeback!  K-Fed basically crashed and burned, recieving the break-up news live on Much Music TV then buying socks and underwear at Wal-Mart a few days later.  Britney Spears, for at least a brief moment, resurfaced to the top of our hearts.

Down: 

Britney the pantiless Socialite:  For most, it was only a matter of time until Britney Spears left K-Fed to try and make a comeback.  What we learned is that you can take the redneck girl out of the trashy marriage, but you can't take the trash out of the redneck girl.  Instead of dumping her slacker hubby and heading the for the recording studio, Britney ditched the kids and hit the party trail with none other than Paris Hilton.  The two topped all the headlines drunk, sweaty, sans panties. 

Britney Spears is one of those people that we all either love to hate or secretly hope she has an incredible comeback.  Instead, she seems to be digging herself deeper and deeper.  Even her biggest fans are giving up her (literally).  In the last week of the year, her fan hub titled World of Britney is calling it quits saying she is "done."

Up: 

All these pretty people get together and start having babies! Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie finally convened as the world's two hottest people and did us all the favor or reproducing.  We can all die now, the world's most beautiful person has been created!  Now, we wait.  Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes claimed to have sex and give birth too!  I, personally, do not really believe that they even had sex.  I think they bought that baby from China, but that's just me.  Regardless, they made a crap load of money by selling their photos to magazines and letting us finally see these beautiful kids.  It must have taken Tom and Katie a long time to pick out their baby, because we didn't get to see pictures for most of the year.  Brad and Angie gave their money to charity.

Madonna and Angelina also picked up some Africa babies this year.  Madonna got more press than Angie did, because Madonna bought a baby that wasn't an orphan sparking controversy that she bought her way in.  Who cares?  These kids both just made it to superstardom.  Work it out babies.

Down:

Reverand Run's Baby Dies:  Reverand Run and his wife Justine gave birth to a baby girl in September, but it died shortly after.  They didn't make an appearance again that year until the end of November when Run turned 42.  Rumor has it they may cancel talks for another season of their hit MTV reality show "Runs House."

Up:  

Whitney Houston leaves Bobby Brown!  I was actually waiting for this one to happen.  As much as I like Whitney as a druggie, I am very excited about seeing her make a comeback in 2007!  Unlike Britney, Whitney has selected better company route. 

Instead of loosing her panties and heading out to the club to find the nearest socialite (like Britney Spears did) Whitney went straight for the top making cameos at high profile events with her record producer Clive Davis and her famous cousin Deon Warwick.

That's why Whitney Houston is my pick for Best Divorce of 2006 and Most Likely to have the Best Comeback in 2007!

Down:

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillipe file for divorce:  Reese and Ryan were supposed to be success story in Hollywood matrimony.  I love them both, and I can't imagine having to choose between "Team Reese" and "Team Ryan."  Despite all the rumors that have ciculated throughout their marriage, these two seems to continually knock them down until they couldn't hide the problems anymore.

Rumor has it that Ryan cheated on Reese, so she kicked him to the curb.  Neither have officially confirmed anything other than "irreconsilible differences."  I, personally, would rather not know the reason for the split.

As you know every rollercoaster has a big ending.  The big mountain to climb, normally a few twists and flips on the way down before you plummet to your near death.  This leg of the Rollercoaster ride of 2006 is led by none other than Anna Nicole Smith....

Up:

Anna Nicole Smith is pregnant & getting her money!  Finally, Anna Nicole Smith has another way to make a few bucks!  It all began shortly after the big announcement she created a members only section of her website where people could pay to get video updates on her pregnancy.  She is mum about the father, but we were okay with that... because we knew this would lead to a much thicker drama later!  She continued to make money later by selling the video of her c-section birth.  All signs point to more money after the son of her later hubby, J. Howard Marshall, died leaving the courts to hand Anna Nicole her share of her husband's inheritance in 2007.

Down:

Daniel Smith Dies in a Hospital! While visiting his mother and new born sister, Anna Nicole Smith's son mysteriously dies in a hospital room.  Coroners find that he died of a lethal mix of anti-depressants and methadone.  Anyone who has seen their reality show on E! knows that Daniel Smith was "the good kid" basically raising his mother.  He isn't the type to do drugs.  Rumors circulated that other people in the hospital heard Anna Nicole screaming "you did this to him" 30 minutes before a nurse was called to try and revive Daniel.  The other person in the room with Anna Nicole and Daniel was her life-long friend and attorney Howard K. Stern.  After Daniel died, the money making continued as Anna Nicole sold the last photos of him to the tabloids making an easy million.  Shortly after, Howard K. Stern went on Larry King Live and announced that he was the father of Anna Nicole's new baby.  Meanwhile,  paparazzi photographer Larry Birkhead claimes he is baby Dannielynn's father.  He gets a court order to bring her back to the US for a paternity test, instead Anna Nicole gets residency in the Bahamas refusing to come back to the states.

Now lets see where 2007 takes us!  Happy New Year!!
