This has been an exciting week of nightclub news for GaySocialites.com, and the world in generally really. Britney Spears got a speedy graduation from rehab to go to a party, a historic nightclub is reopening and its basically taking over Saturday nights in NYC, and some gay New York DJ's have decided to throw down at a straight club. Could the nightlife really be coming back?!
As we told you earlier this week, New York City's gay nightlife has basically unified to bring you one of the biggest gay parties in New York history. John Blair, Alan Picus and Mistress Formika Jones are leading the reopening of New York City's Avalon. Avalon was known as the Limelight for the first few decades of its existence before John Blair took over and reinvented the club just a few years ago. For a while it looked like a retailer such as H&M might take the space and turn it into a clothing outlet.
Instead, just about every gay promoter, host, drag queen, performer, dj and patron will flood back to the church turned nightclub ever Saturday night starting March 31!
GaySocialites.com is joining the crew that includes John Blair, Alan Picus, Mistress Michael Formika (as we mentioned) along with Steve Sidewalk, Vito Fun, Cazwell, Amanda LaPore, Chris Ryan, DJ Adam, Acid Betty, Kitty Litter, Seth Gold, James Copolla, Danny Enichi and well just about all the NYC nightclub icons... you get the drift. It's going to be insane, and we hope you'll join us there. I, personally, will host a Scandalous Show in the Scandalous Spider club presented by Alan Picus. It's a VIP club inside Avalon that exclusively permits patrons that are 18 or older! If you think you've seen one of my crazy shows before, you ain't seen nothing yet!!
As I'm really excited about Scandal in the Spider Club at Avalon, I am also excited about the new club down the street called Rush at 16th and 6th. I have worked at 579 Sixth Avenue for 4 years, and I can't believe what the new owners have done to the place. You will be so freakin' surprised. I'll still be involved there, and you will see some amazing things going on at the ALL NEW Rush. If you're in NYC, then come check it out this Saturday. I'll be hosting.
Another sign that nightlife could be reviving is that Britney Spears is out of rehab! Why did she leave? To attend a party. Consequently, the party was cancelled. You see it was her estranged husband Kevin Federline's birthday party, and some of his sponsored bailed -- so he couldn't afford it anymore. We're still looking forward to seeing Britney out and about. I'm sure she'll have to take some time away from divorce settlements. Besides, it looks like she'll only have the kids half of the time since Britney and K-Fed are going to share custody of Sean Preston and Jayden James. I just hope Brit-Brit doesn't ever have another drink in her hand or any powder around her nose!
Before I conclude, another new party! This is what happens when gay guys invade one of New York City's most popular straight clubs.
Sundays in New York City have seemed somewhat like a ghost town in NYC since Alan Picus and John Blair cancelled their Sunday night party at Myst to focus on the Saturday mega-party at Avalon. GaySocialites.com was happy to break the story that DJ Adam and Steve Sidewalk are teaming up to bring you Hot Mess at Porky's on Sundays. It will be hosted by the aforementioned DJs, Chris Ryan, Drew Zailen, Mimi Imfurst, Rainblo & Jason Preston (yes, Marc Jacob's former boy toy -- I bet he's got some stories!!) I'll also be around there, because GaySocialites.com is the official media outlet for Hot Mess at Porky's! We're happy to be on-board!

We told you we would have a big announcement on Monday that might change the gay New York nightlife forever. Here ya go!
GaySocialites.com is proud to announce that we are officially putting our effort and full support behind the all new Saturdays at Avalon in NYC.
For the past four years our editor has served as the emcee and host at Club Heaven in NYC (now called Rush). Effective March 31, the World's First Gay Socialite Charles Winters will also begin working at the legendary Avalon nightclub along with every other gay icon in New York City! Charles will work his magic at the Spider Club, a VIP club inside of Avalon that will exclusively be allowed to welcome any patrons above the age of 18.
With a rotating DJ line-up that includes Steve Sidewalk, Seth Gold, Vito Fun and Danny Enichi; drag queen hostesses Acid Betty and Kitty Litter along with the backing of Alan Picus (www.boiparty.com) and John Blair (www.jblair.com) then you can guarantee that the Spider Club at Avalon will be where all of the gaysocialites both young and old will be every Saturday night.
We'll still be involved at Rush, but we can't give you all off the news at one time now can we? Stay tuned. If you haven't checked it out yet, come by this Saturday. Both the first and the second floors have been remodeled. You're going to LOVE it!
To RSVP for Avalon now, email charles@gaysocialites.com!
We have a huge announcement coming on Monday that will change the way you look at New York nightlife, and it is guaranteed to change your social calendar if you live in New York City or visit here often.
I can't say too much now, but it's going to be AMAZING!!! It's basically a whole new beginning and something you're going to be very excited about too!
Make sure you check back on Monday to see how GaySocialites.com is helping resculp the NYC gay nightlife scene.
I'm so excited I could spit!
James St. James paved the way for people like me to have a weekly show at a nightclub. Okay, so that was some Shameless Self Promotion, but it is a good opportunity to invite you to check out my show any Saturday night a Rush in NYC... but I digress.
James St. James was one of the leaders in the 'club kid' era in New York City, and yes - he's the same guy who was a guest judge on America's Next Top Model and a regular guest on the Tyra Banks show. He's also the guy who was played by Seth Green in the movie Party Monster based on his book Disco Bloodbath. Ok, fine he's the former friend of the killing club kid, Michael Alig.
As if a few appearances along side Tyra and ruling the NYC nightclub scene wasn't enough - now James St. James is lending a helping hand to teen drag queens. Who else to hear it from than the head queen -- Micheal Musto. You'll love it trust me.
I would totally review it myself, but I'm not really big on reading. Maybe when I'm his age? JUST KIDDING... I love James St. James. Werk it out girl!
Anna Nicole Smith made 'nobody' interior designer Bobby Trendy a D-lister, now he's cashing in on his portion of the spotlight from Smith's passing. Trendy tells Life & Style's Web site that she met with Smith in Hollywood, Fla., two days before her death.
"She seemed like her old self, making silly jokes and laughing," Trendy said. "I'm so shocked I can't even tell you. She was in a good mood -- she looked fine, she seemed fine."
Something drastic must have changed since the "Anna Nicole Smith Show" wrapped, because last I heard the two hated each other. Either that or Bobby is taking one last ride on the Anna Nicole wave.
A few weeks ago, I wrote a series of articles at GenerationQ.net about Aaron Charney, a New York attorney who is suing high-profile law firm, Sullivan & Cromwell alleging gay-bias. I discovered that the law firm has a gay-friendly past, even claiming to have gay partners.
But things just got nasty! It not only looks like Charney is unemployed, but it looks like he may face charges of his own.
In their own lawsuit against Mr. Charney, Sullivan accuses him of repeatedly and deliberately revealing confidential information about the firm and its clients as part of his legal fight. The case also suggests that he leaked some top secret documents about "morale issues" to the Wall Street Journal.
Their complaint reads:
The partner had kept a copy of this document in a file relating to confidential firm matters. This presentation is missing from the partner’s file, and the file appears to have been put out of order. The Wall Street Journal Online Law Blog, on January 24, 2007, reported that a handwritten note on the copy of the presentation obtained by the Journal said, “We are breaking away from the pack in the wrong direction.” Charney, at paragraph 63 of his Complaint, alleged the following: “As one S&C partner describes S&C’s rankings, S&C ‘is breaking away from the pack in the wrong direction[.]’”
In this same complaint, which was dated Feb. 1, it states that Charney was an associate at the firm “until today.” Looks like this one is gonna get really nasty!
On behalf of everyone here at GaySocialites.com, I want to say thank you for such a great 2006! We hope you have a happy, prosperous, fun and safe New Year!
This year we have successfully moved from promoting other people's events, to promoting our own events, to dedicating our time exclusively to blogging and gossiping (as we should!) We're so glad that you have chosen GaySocialites.com as your source for the insider news and the 411 on gay nightlife.
This year we've successfully become more than a blog by adding "The Call", our internet radio show/ podcast, to the GaySocialites.com family.
In 2007, you'll see GaySocialites becoming more of a brand as we branch out into the clothing industry and introduce our online radio station!!
We look forward to growing with you over the next year. We wish you the best!
Sincerely,
Charles Winters

Yes, I'm a pretty funny guy; but I write this piece in all seriousness. It's a cry out for help.... by both me and the new CW Show, Play2Win. Keep reading, then you'll understand.
Dear Executive Producers of Play2Win:
At first your game was nothing more than a train wreck that I had to keep watching over and over, then suddenly I realized that the show has a lot of potential. You just need some comic relief. The mummified girls are perfect for the beer-bellied straight man, but trust me he's falling alseep by 2am. Every late night show needs a few good gay men. We appeal to the gays (who are up at this time getting high and buying things on QVC) and the ladies (strange, but true).
I mean, seriously, look at the late night rundown: Will & Grace leads into Frasier, According to Jim, South Park, then Play2Win. Don't get me wrong, I see the trend to compete with Adult Swim on Comedy Central; but imagine the potential that your sometimes boring show could have with two gay guys!
My gay best friend and I would be perfect for your show. We would spark some controversy (not because we're gay, but because we argue about everything). Throw Charles Winters and Anthony Lago (that's a cheap drop of our names) on the show for at least one segment. We'll liven up the audience and piss some people off. That's all that show needs.
We offer our services, and you can e-mail me at charles.w@generationq.net for more information. We can start tonight.
Best,
Charles Winters
