Madonna wants Al Gore to be the next president of the United States.
The Material Girl says she wants the former VP to change his mind and enter the 2008 race.
Gore ran against George W. Bush in 2000 resulting in one of the closest presidential bouts to date. Even though Al won more votes than George, Bush won the presidency for receiving more electoral votes.
Madonna is no stranger to politics either, in 2004 she pledged her support for Wesley Clark who conceded the Democratic primary to John Kerry.
Is there any chance that Madge is mentioning this to get free PR to help hock her belts and shoes on sale at H&M?

A movie star caused a stir on Capitol Hill today. Former Vice President and Academy Award winner Al Gore testified before Congress today urging lawmakers to address a "planetary emergency" by reversing the growth of emissions that are blamed for global warming.
"The consequences of inaction would be devastating to both the environment and the economy," Gore told Congressional leaders.
The man who should have been President didn't act like a man running for office today, and that might be the most appealing part of his potential candidacy.
Democrats were gushing to see their former leader on the floor. Presidential candidates Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barak Obama seemed a bit distant as many politicans still aren't convinced that Gore's name won't be on the ballot for the nations highest position in 2008.
Al Gore also defended the high energy bill at his Tennessee home saying he and his wife Tipper paid a little bit more for cleaner energy.
Mark one up in the win column for Al Gore.
Al Gore had his chance, as I told you earlier this would have been the perfect opportunity; but it appears that he has passed up this window to announce that he is running for president in 2008.
Gore was given the chance to speak with Leonardo DiCaprio about "being green." The duo shared with us how the awards were prepared in an echo conscious way, and DiCarprio set Gore up to make the big announcement.
After Gore said he would like to make an important announcement, he pulled a speech from his pocket as if he was going to tell the "billions watching" that he was a presidential candidate once again. Instead he played it up until the music started (obviously on cue) and interrupted him.
There you have it, Al Gore is a comedian, not a presidential candidate... for now anyway.

The GaySocialites are really pulling for Al Gore to win the Academy Award for best documentary tonight for 'Inconvenient Truth'. If he doesn't take the top spot, he should probably demand a recount as all odds are on the former Vice-President.
Many analysts, both in Hollywood and in Washington, say that an acceptance speech at the Oscars would be the best media opportunity to announce one's candidacy for president. Not only would this take all eyes off of the Hillary Clinton/ Barak Obama fight, but it would also boost DVD sales.
If Al Gore is going to run, this would be the PERFECT time to announce it! He would definitely look like the democrat's knight in shining armor presenting an alternative to the early battle between Clinton and Obama, and it would go down in the history books as the most creative announcement/ acceptance speech EVER!
Tonight's Oscars could be a bit more exciting than we all expect!
